PHP Development Team Lead / Architect is required by a highly successful emerging software house who are part of a large Insurance organisation. This is a brand new role and we are looking for an ambitious technologist who has had experience of team leadership or management and who sees themselves progressing to a CTO-type role in the future. Your personality and management/leadership style is extremely important for this role, as is your technical aptitude.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Creation and maintenance of software engineering strategy, ensuring the strategy supports short, medium and long-term corporate objectives
  • Deliver outstanding software engineering across engineering teams, mentoring direct reports and other team members, advocating leading development practices (Agile, unit testing, TDD, etc.)
  • Lead the solutions architecture capability, designing flexible and evolving user-centric software solutions
  • Lead the engineering teams and coordinate, assist and help optimise all engineering teams to deliver market-leading products efficiently and optimally
  • Manage quality control across the engineering teams, ensuring standards meet or exceed regulations and more importantly, the increasingly high expectations of clients and users.
  • Work harmoniously and effectively with the Creative and Programmes Divisions to deliver projects on time, on budget and to the required standard
  • Lead the engineering teams' recruitment activities, ensuring resourcing bandwidth and standards are sufficient to deliver on current and pipeline projects

 

Key Requirements:

 

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the latest technologies and best practice in software, application and web engineering
  • Specific expertise in implementing leading Linux/PHP (LAMP) projects utilising the latest MVC frameworks
  • Proven ability to select and implement appropriate technologies required to support cutting-edge technology solutions for complex business problems
  • Experience of implementing significant system integration projects
  • Ability to evaluate data solutions including all major types of database
  • Proven approach to creating and integrating open API strategies
  • Understanding of Test Driven Development (TDD) methodology, including track record of delivering projects with high unit-test coverage
  • Working within an Agile development environment
  • Working knowledge of CMS frameworks
  • 5-10 years professional experience, with at least two years’ experience in a similar role
