Windows Server – SCOM, SCCM, AD, Hyper V, Hardware + storage infrastructure

Infrastructure Engineer with significant Windows Server Exchange experience is required by a buoyant financial services organisation based in Reigate. This role will see you working with architects to help design, plan and implement new solutions and enhance existing ones. This is a hands-on role assisting in the development and deployment of environments and (cloud) related services for our customers. You will have opportunities to be involved at all stages of a project - covering requirements capture and assessment, cloud services deployment, security and compliance, systems engineering and operational readiness. You will also be involved in the day to day support across the Infrastructure domain ensuring that all environments are monitored, maintained and operational in line with agreed standards and policies.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with Architecture and vendors to build new or enhance existing solutions
  • Implementation and handover to Operational Support of infrastructure solutions
  • Work within the Infrastructure Team in support of BAU processes
  • Management and monitoring of the (cloud) environment
  • Interface with other teams across the organization in order to establish and enforce best practices and standards
  • Keeping abreast of advancement in technology solutions and offerings and recommending change where required
  • Responsible for ensuring all compliance and risk issues are understood and highlighted to senior management as they arise
  • Assist in developing project plans, tracking and reporting to deadlines
  • Preparing and testing technical knowledgebase articles as well as systems documentation
  • Champion Agile best-practices, processes, and tools in support of DevOps processes
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members
  • Demonstrate the ability to adapt and work with team members of various experience level


Key Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of Windows Server 2008/12/16 and Windows 10
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manger (SCCM) including design, implementation and support within an Operational environment i.e. OS deployment, patching and security compliance
  • Excellent knowledge of Operation Manager (SCOM) and Management Suite (OMS)
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, GPOs, ADFS, Security, PKI, DNS, DHCP, etc.
  • Good knowledge of Hyper-V, covering deployment and administration
  • Good knowledge of Hardware Storage Infrastructure
  • Good scripting skills, ideally PowerShell
  • Good experience of Office 365 (including migration path to the platform)
  • Good knowledge of traditional networks, firewalls and load balancers
  • Operational experience of managing a Microsoft based infrastructure
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with an ability to extract, translate and communicate meaningful information at all levels of executives, management and peers
  • Strong technical documentation skills; workflows, architectural diagrams, support documentation
