
Systems and Database Analyst. SQL Server, Linux, Windows. Crawley, W.Sussex £55k
SQL Server, Linux, Windows, Unix. A systems & database analyst is required by our impressive global client.
The scope of the work includes the Windows/Linux/Unix Servers, MS SQL Server databases, storage area networks (SAN), virtual infrastructure (VMWare) and Opensource based web hosting. The role encompasses architecture, operations and 3 rd line support for both UK and global infrastructure.
Experience required
Excellent knowledge of supporting Linux, Unix and Windows server farms. (4+ years)
Excellent database administration skills including MS SQL 2000/2005 (3+ years) and Progress 9.1D onwards
Excellent technical knowledge of server hardware, maintenance, performance monitoring and troubleshooting. (4+ years)
VMWare knowledge, maintaining large scale virtual infrastructures.
Extensive knowledge of SAN/NAS protocols (FC, iSCSI, NFS, CIFS) and replicated datacentre environments
Web development and hosting (PHP, MYSQL, Apache)
Extensive knowledge of backup architecture design, implementation and troubleshooting.
Extensive practical knowledge of working in multisite datacentre environments
Extensive knowledge of datacentre networking including VLAN configuration, trunking and Firewall configuration.
Core Responsibilities
Maintain contact with vendors to ensure reliability and availability of current hosting infrastructure
Pro-actively monitor all systems.
Pro-actively create and perform DR plans creating new or following existing procedures and documentation
Experience with formal change management processes and procedures
Skilled in the use of VISIO to create, update and publish technical drawings
