Head of Data Strategy and Transformation

The Role:

Head of Data Strategy and Transformation is required to join a global insurance organisation with offices in the heart of the City. Leading a talented team of data professionals, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the overall data strategy – aligning it with organisational objectives, driving innovation, and leveraging the power of data to help steer business decisions. You will also work closely with wider teams within the business to help identify data-driven opportunities, establishing an operating framework with business functions and championing a data-driven culture. This role requires a thorough understanding of large-in-scale transformation initiatives within financial services, ideally within insurance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute a data strategy that supports overall business goals and objectives
• Grow & lead a team of data specialists – providing guidance and mentorship and creating a culture of data-driven innovation.
• Drive the adoption of advanced data analytics and data science techniques across the business
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify opportunities where data can be further used to aid growth and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to develop and implement high-quality data products including working with IT teams to assess and implement the necessary infrastructure, tools, and technologies
• Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in data strategy
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of data initiatives, tracking key metrics and providing regular reports on the effectiveness and ROI.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience in data strategy, data management, or similar – preferably gained within financial services, ideally within insurance.
• Excellent knowledge of data strategy frameworks, data governance, and regulatory requirements related to data privacy and security
• Understanding of advanced data analytics techniques, statistical modelling, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization tools.
• Proven leadership and team management experience
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities – able to translate complex data into strategic insights and recommendations.

Technical Skills

• Understanding of programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
• Experience using data manipulation and analysis tools eg Qlik Sense, Power BI and Tableau.
• Knowledge of Business Intelligence Applications (PowerBI, QLIK Sense, Tableau, or similar etc.)
• SQL and SQL server reporting services (SSRS)
• Familiarity (from management perspective) Data Science & Machine-Learning
• (Databricks, DataIQ, SAS, Alteryx, or similar etc.)
