Software Engineer – Kotlin

The Role:

A Software Engineer is sought by a fast-growing high-tech software development organisation, based in Cambridge.  You’ll gain exposure to and have the potential to influence high-level project decision-making and architecture design decisions. You’ll work on exciting, cutting-edge systems including the company’s newest SaaS product. They are looking for a Software Engineer, ideally with full stack experience, to join their cross-discipline team. Your main role is as a Software Engineer for their backend application. As a Backend Software Engineer, you will also collaborate daily with their front-end and Mobile Developers. You will ensure their backend application is of the highest quality, take charge of the health of their test and production deployment, and foresee and address issues quickly and efficiently. You will also assist where needed on the backend rest API. Your work will make a huge impact on hundreds of organisations using it around the world.

Key Responsibilities:

Backend technology stack and desirable skills are:
– Kotlin (or Java)
– NoSQL databases (especially ElasticSearch and Neo4j)
– Coroutines
– Docker

Deployment technologies and non-essential skills are:
– AWS CloudFront
– AWS Fargate
– AWS S3
– AWS Route53

Kanban-style project management for development, using tools such as
– Git
– Git Flow
– BitBucket
– Trello
– Slack
– Figma

In addition to developing new features, you will rewrite class components into hooks and improve existing pages. You will participate in daily stand-up zoom video calls at 9am GMT every day.
