Data Platform Lead

The Role:

A prestigious Financial Services organisation is seeking a highly talented Data Platform Lead. This is a deeply technical role at its core, requiring candidates who have personally designed, built, and evolved enterprise-scale data platforms and data models.

You must bring strong hands-on experience as a data engineer or equivalent and be comfortable operating directly in modern cloud data platforms while influencing senior stakeholders. You will play a pivotal role in defining and delivering a shared enterprise data model spanning multiple business divisions and geographies. This role sits at the intersection of engineering execution and commercial impact; you will be expected to both design the solution and help build it.

You will help guide the integration of data across multiple divisions and geographies, driving consistency, clarity, and long-term value from complex and often fragmented data landscapes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead hands-on oversight and evolution of enterprise-wide data models across wealth & asset management
• Manage and guide integration of diverse data sources into a unified, scalable platform
• Collaborate with global regional data and AI leads to ensure alignment with architectural standards
• Partner with senior business stakeholders to define core data concepts, entities & metrics, and resolve ambiguity
• Perform technical gap analysis of existing models, pipelines, and platform capabilities
• Contribute technically to data engineering where needed
• Build and evolve high-quality data products for reporting, analytics, and strategic decision-making

Key Requirements:

• 10+ years’ experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or equivalent roles
• A strong hands-on background building modern data platforms — not just overseeing them
• Proven experience designing and evolving enterprise-wide data models
• Demonstrable ability to reconcile and integrate data from multiple disparate systems
• Deep familiarity with modern cloud data architectures and tooling (e.g. Azure Data Factory, Databricks, lakehouse and/or data warehouse patterns)
• Experience delivering large-scale, multi-division data initiatives within financial services
• Comfortable working directly with business stakeholders while maintaining technical ownership of solutions
• Ability to operate effectively in environments with incomplete requirements and complex legacy data
