Software Engineering Manager – Backend Systems

Are you an experienced engineering leader with a passion for backend development and a talent for growing high-performing teams? We’re looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead a skilled group of developers working on large-scale data-driven applications used around the world.
This is a hands-on leadership role that blends technical guidance, people management, and project delivery oversight. You’ll play a key role in driving backend services that power real-world mobility and infrastructure use cases.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of backend software engineers, supporting professional growth and career development
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture focused on ownership, innovation, and continuous learning
• Set clear goals and expectations, provide regular feedback, and drive performance evaluations
• Ensure team wellbeing, resolve conflicts, and promote psychological safety
• Work with product managers and cross-functional teams to define requirements, scope, and delivery timelines
• Manage priorities, allocate resources effectively, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality backend systems
• Champion agile processes including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives
• Identify project risks and communicate progress to stakeholders at all levels
• Support the team in designing, developing, and testing scalable web services
• Review code, influence architectural decisions, and promote engineering best practices
• Work closely with architects and senior engineers to evolve the technical roadmap
• Encourage a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement

Key Requirements:

We are looking for candidates who have:

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of experience managing software teams, plus a solid background in backend development
• Strong experience with modern web development stacks (e.g. LAMP, REST APIs, containerization)
• Proven track record of hiring, mentoring, and retaining talented engineers
