AI Engineer, Financial Services

The Role:

An experienced AI Engineer is sought to join a high-growth financial services organisation with offices in the heart of the City of London (hybrid working). This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a forward-thinking company at the forefront of AI adoption in financial services.

Within this role, you will play a central part in developing and deploying cutting-edge NLP, large language models (LLMs) and GenAI solutions that deliver measurable impact across the business. You’ll work on a diverse portfolio of projects spanning the entire enterprise with the scope to take ideas from concept through to production deployment.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Partner with stakeholders to identify and shape AI use cases that deliver real business value
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams (DevOps, data engineers, developers, testers, InfoSec)
• Fine-tune and evaluate NLP/LLM models, build prompts and assess third-party GenAI solutions
• Contribute to the growth of the AI infrastructure, including MLOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Python libraries
• Ensure high standards in data engineering, testing, monitoring and governance
• Drive projects from scoping and R&D through to deployment and A/B testing
• Share expertise with colleagues and senior stakeholders to influence business outcomes

Key skills and Experience:

• Self-starter with experience in taking AI research and models into production to deliver tangible commercial results
• A strong academic background in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, or similar
• Demonstrable expertise in NLP, LLMs, prompt engineering and fine-tuning models in a commercial setting
• Proficiency in Python and its data science ecosystem, plus version control (Git) and SQL
• Knowledge of MLOps, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, MLflow, FastAPI and related technologies
• Familiarity with LangChain, Hugging Face, Databricks, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures
• Understanding of software engineering principles (SOLID), AGILE methodologies, and model monitoring
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly
