Marcus hasn’t looked back and over 20 years, he has successfully grown a team of excellent and dedicated recruiters and team members. Laura Hestley
Talent Resourcer

After a childhood spent in the wilds of Suffolk, Laura moved to London after university where she accidentally fell into a career in recruitment.  She worked initially as an in-house recruiter predominantly within the finance, sales and digital marketing sectors, recruiting for roles at all levels from office junior through to senior management. In 2014 Laura moved to Brighton and joined ARC IT where she works alongside Rebecca.

Laura has a Master’s degree in creative writing and, when not working, can often be found reading on the beach or frowning over the latest chapter of the novel she is writing. She has a very spoilt tabby cat called Manny, a goldfish called Kio-ora and the long-held ambition to own a herd of pigmy goats.

Tom Arthur
Talent Resourcer

Tom came to Brighton 13 years ago to complete a degree in History and Philosophy. Enjoying his time and the beautiful seaside location he has stayed on and forged a career in recruitment.

Tom has joined the team having gathered great experience across major Engineering and IT Recruitment markets around the UK, Europe & the US, which he is putting to good use here at ARC.

In his spare time Tom likes to keep active, playing with/laughing at his (runt of the pack) cat 'Pudding', whilst not forgetting to fit in time for a beer or two (conservative estimate) when the mood strikes!!

Katey Smith

Katey has been working in recruitment for 14 years.  Prior to this she worked for an IT Support and Services company where she had many ‘hats’ working in support, sales, office management and IT training.  She joined the team at ARC in 2012 and has not looked back!  Well only briefly…  Now working as a Consultant she works on Marcus’ team where there is never a quiet day!   Learning to multi-task and juggling many balls are key aspects of the job.  These skills are also required in her home life as she’s mum to 12 year old Finley, a feisty but fabulous five year old called Amelie and a new puppy!  Katey loves to spend her downtime going out for dinner, having a glass of wine (only one as she’s a lightweight!) and catching up with friends and family.

Gemma Swainson
Talent Resourcer

Gemma has worked in a sales environment for the past 14 years, venturing into the world of recruitment back in the 2010, then making her move to ARC IT Recruitment in 2012. Having gone on maternity leave to have her now 6 year old son & 4 year old daughter, Gemma has since made a hasty return to ARC working as a Resourcer on Marcus's team. Enjoying the fast-paced variety the role offers!

In her spare time when she's not being 'mum', you'll find Gemma enjoying a G&T or trying to book her next holiday!

Ross Apted
Talent Resourcer

Previously working in Education and the Financial Services sector, Ross assists Marcus and Ellis in resourcing and Account Managing for their roles up and down the UK.

When not working, you can often find Ross continuously adding to his music and film collection, crowd surfing at a gig, or celebrating at long last that Leeds United are finally back in the Premier League!

Tina Portilo
Accounts Manager

Tina is relatively new to recruitment, having joined ARC IT in November 2015 as their Accounts Manager, but has been taking care of company accounts in both the public and private sector for most of her working career.

After a 14 year ‘stint’ in sunny St Lucia where she enjoyed the delights and tribulations of working in the Caribbean, she returned to the UK and has worked with various companies striving to optimise their profitability and generally keep the wheels turning as smoothly as possible.

Spare time includes dancing samba and salsa, and trying to improve her Spanish with the help of her Cuban husband.
